Ladybirds
Ladybirds or Ladybugs are insects from a family of
coccinellidae. "Ladybirds" derives from Britain and the insects are
known as the lady beetle. The word Coccinellid is a Latin word means scarlet
Most ladybugs have oval - dome shaped bodies with six
shorts legs. They can have spots, stripes or no marking at all, according to
their species. Seven spotted coccinellids are red or orange with three spots on
each side and one in the middle; they have a black head with white patches on
each side.
Ladybirds are known as predators of aphids and scale
insects. They are purely carnivorous but some species in the sub family
Epilachninal are herbivores, and can be very destructive agricultural pests.
They can damage the harvests.
Ladybugs are bird's prey besides frogs, wasps, spiders
and dragonflies. Their bright colour discourage some potential predators to
attack them. This phenomenon is called aposematism. The predators learn by
experience that 'good looking prey', associates to bad taste. These insects
produces an alicalloid toxin when the predators attack them.
Ladybirds bite people and cause allergic reactions. In
the grape orchard, they can cause the wine's production becomes poor.

Clown Fish
Clown
fish inhabit a single sea anemone in groups that include the breeding male and
female and a number of younger male clown fish. All clown fish are born male
and develop female reproductive organs when needed. When the female in the sea
anemone groups dies, the dominant male becomes female and breeds with one of
the males that is inhabiting the same sea anemone.
Female
clown fish lay their eggs on a flat surface, close to the sea anemone which
they inhabit. They can lay hundreds or thousands of eggs at one time depending
on the species. The female lay their eggs around the same time as a full moon
and the males guard the eggs until they hatch just over a week later.
Clown
fish eat both plants and animals. They eat a wide range of food such as algae,
plankton, molluscs, and small crustaceans. Their diet is, however, largely
dependent on the species of clown fish and what food is available in the area
which they inhabit.
Due to their small size, clown fish are preyed upon by a number of predators, but it can be difficult to catch since they often retreat into the safety of the sea anemone. Large species of fish, sharks and eels are the main predators of clown fish in the water. But, human is the biggest overall threat as they are caught to keep in tanks and aquariums.
